Known in England as the Bakerboy Cap, this iconic eight-panel design has journeyed from 19th-century baseball fields to 20th-century silver screens—and into the wardrobes of modern-day style connoisseurs.

Its origins trace back to the 1860s, when the Brooklyn Excelsiors baseball team wore a rounded cap with a buttoned crown and short brim, the original shape that would inspire generations of newsboys, bootblacks, and working-class dandies across the Atlantic. By the 20th century, it had become a sartorial staple, immortalised by Robert Redford in The Sting and echoed in today’s love for vintage tailoring.
