Craft & materials

Every hat is hand-finished using traditional blocking techniques. We work with fine toquilla straw, wool felt, rabbit felt, and woven fabrics — materials chosen for structure, finish, and how well they age. A Laird hat worn for ten years looks better than most hats worn for one.
