Established in 2009 in trendy East London, by husband and wife duo, Alex and Zofia, this independent headwear brand has craftmanship, the best British cloths, and great heritage designs at its heart. Now with 6 retail shops as well as a thriving online international platform, the Laird team keeps very busy manufacturing its headwear in England and sending them all over the world. Our shops are welcoming and friendly – with style advice and great ranges and a personal, unstuffy service.
Laird Hatters does manufacture for other brands, other designers, film and catwalks, as well as wholesaling its Laird label hats and caps. Recently, workwear clothing ‘Laird Utility’ has been added successfully to the range. Alex is the creative designer for both ranges, and looks at all the minute details!
Sustainability is our core principle both in our shops, production and operations. 95% of our cloths are sourced locally in the UK, as well as choosing recycled and environmentally sensitive materials. When searching for top quality fabrics and that additional investment, the aim is to make longer lasting, more durable products for our customers. By making locally we reduce travel miles, and even have an electric van to deliver to our shops.
We reduce waste in production, and often ‘freshly’ making to order for online orders. A significant approach Laird has always taken is to make headwear throughout the year with regular drops rather than strict seasonal ranges – which has eliminated waste. Our packaging also is mainly recycled bags and cardboard boxes. In our shops we use LED lights and light saving bulbs for instance. We keep striving to improve and find new solutions across the board. We love to search for new recycled cloth ranges to bring our Laird customer community more innovative lines. We love what we make for you and we have a great team!
